Jamaat Ameer calls for observing 'National Revolution and Solidarity Day'
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has called for observing 'National Revolution and Solidarity Day' with due dignity on November 7. He made this call in a statement today, Wednesday.
He said, "November 7 is the National Revolution and Solidarity Day. This day is very significant in the history of Bangladesh. On November 7, 1975, all the freedom-loving people took to the streets to protect the country's independence and sovereignty and to confront all conspiracies and plots against the country.
On November 3, 1975, Major General Khaled Musharraf plotted to bring the Awami League back to power by staging a military coup. Then our patriotic soldiers and the people unitedly took to the streets on November 7 with the slogan of Naraya e Takbir ,Allahu Akbar and defended the independence and sovereignty of the country by resisting the conspiracies of Khaled Musharraf.
Our patriotic military forces have repeatedly saved the country from foreign hegemonic conspiracies. On August 5, the students and people of the country, exchanging many fresh lives and blood, freed the country from the grip of 15 and a half years of Awami fascism, and the country's military forces stood by the students and people. We are going to celebrate November 7 at a time when the nation is going through various crises. Various conspiracies have started to hand the nation over to fascism again. The nation is hearing the footsteps of fascism again. If the fascists return, the nation will fall into a great crisis. In this situation, to protect the nation, patriotic students and people who believe in multi-party democracy, regardless of party or opinion, and the current government and military forces must work together.
Therefore, I am calling on all branches of Jamaat and patriotic students to observe the 'National Revolution and Solidarity Day' on November 7 with due dignity by taking a solemn oath to firmly confront all kinds of conspiracies and plots and to unite to protect the independence and sovereignty of the country.
