The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on Monday (October 5) had launched a drive to evict battery-powered rickshaws in the Jigatala area. At that time some auto rickshaws were taken away in trucks. There was a rickshaw of a person named Fazlur Rahman. He broke down in tears after picking up his only asset rickshaw. Because he lost his job in the coronavirus pandemic and bought the battery-powered rickshaw 15 days ago with a loan of Tak 80,000.
Several photos of his crying by photojournalist Asif Mahmood Ovi taken and uploaded through social media went viral on Facebook. The main reason for his crying was the loss of the emergency resort rickshaw. Sabbir Hasan Nasir, the executive director of Swapna, saw a picture of her crying.
On the instruction of Sabbir Hassn on Wednesday (October 7, 2020) evening, Tanim Karim, Head of Marketing of Swapna, Shah Mohammad Rizvi Rony, Head of Human Resources Department and Media-Public Relations Manager Kamruzzaman Milu met that Fazlur Rahman. After learning about becoming an entrepreneur as his dream venture, Fazlur Rahman agreed and expressed his excitement because he now owns two rickshaws. He also said that someone would also help him by providing another rickshaw.
He wants to use these rickshaws in Swapna’s home delivery service, he wants to be an entrepreneur. He also picked up Swapna's offer letter. It was handed over to him on Wednesday evening at a restaurant in Tejgaon by Shah Mohammad Rizvi Rony, head of the human resources department. And this is how the rickshaw puller Fazlur Rahman is becoming the entrepreneur of Swapna’s initiative.
Expressing happiness, Fazlur Rahman said, Comilla is my home district. At one time I was learning to work in CNG garage. Then I borrowed money and bought the rickshaw. I can't explain what was going on after losing that rickshaw. But today I feel very good. I can no longer understand the inner joy. I want to be a good entrepreneur and run my business well.
