The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has suspended the process of shutting down the country's unregistered news portals within an hour of the court order.
The process has been suspended on the instructions of Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar.
In this regard, the Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Mustafa Jabbar said that some errors were found in the list while trying to close the unregistered news portals. Therefore, the process of closing the unregistered news portal has been suspended for the time being. We have asked the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for a list, according to which unregistered news portals will be shut down.
The Minister further said that many top sites were shut down due to the closure of unregistered news portals. As soon as I got the news, I asked them to open it. I have instructed the concerned people that if the list is received from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, it will be implemented.
