Five killed in a road crash in Mymensingh

Death toll has risen to five in a CNG-truck collision at Rampur on Balipara-Trishal Road in Mymensingh's Trishal upazila.

The accident happened around 9 am on Wednesday (November 10).

The deceased were identified as Abdus Sattar, 40, son of Abdul Hekim of Rampur village and Kalimuddin, 70, of Baupur village, Mina Begum, 45, wife of Azharul Haque, Sohrab Uddin, 50, son of Abdur Rahman and Salam Nabi, 35.

The name of the injured person was not immediately available.According to police and local sources, the CNG was traveling from Trishal to Balipara with passengers.

According to police sources, a CNG-powered autorickshaw was carrying passengers from Trishal Upazila Sadar to Balipara. On the way, the autorickshaw collided head-on with a sand laden truck coming from the opposite direction. Two passengers of the autorickshaw were killed on the spot. The other four were rushed to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

Main Uddin said the truck was seized after the accident but the driver escaped. Legal action is being taken in this case.
