Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that access to safe food is a constitutional right of the people. The Awami League government is firmly committed to fulfilling this right of the people.

"We are now focusing on research to ensure food production and nutrition," she said. I believe that through the successful implementation of the Safe Food Act-2013, it is possible to ensure maximum quality in food production, import and marketing to ensure safe food for the protection of life and health of the people. It is possible to accelerate the implementation of safe food laws and safe food movement through creating awareness and participatory participation of the people.

The Prime Minister said this in a message given on the occasion of 'National Safe Food Day-2022' today.

She said, "I am happy to know that National Safe Food Day-2022 is being celebrated for the fifth time with the conviction of ensuring nutritious and safe food for the people of Bangladesh." She said that the theme of this year's day was 'Principles of Health, Safe Food and Hygiene'.

Sheikh Hasina said our government has been working relentlessly to ensure food security for all as well as safe food for the people. In order to obtain safe food free from adulteration and pollution, we enacted 'Safe Food Act-2013' and established Bangladesh Safe Food Authority in 2015. Since its inception, the Safe Food Authority has been successfully advancing various public awareness programs, conducting anti-adulteration and anti-pollution campaigns, conducting scientific research activities and coordinating with local and foreign organizations.

The Prime Minister said it is important to maintain food security and nutrition at every step from food production to consumer. Every person in the country is concerned with food security. One who is involved in the production process needs such awareness; similarly, in the case of the person who will suffer, the issue of security is also intimately involved. Therefore, all government and non-government organizations have to work together.

The Prime Minister hopes that through joint efforts of all through raising public awareness and the practical role of stakeholders, we will be able to ensure safe food for all.

Sheikh Hasina said Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman presented us with a constitution in just 9 months after the liberation war, in which he emphasized on basic issues like food, clothing, shelter, medical treatment and education. There he gave the most importance to food.

The Prime Minister said Bangabandhu had started taking steps to build a war-torn Bangladesh to increase food production and improve the living standards of the people. Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib dreamed of building a golden Bangladesh through agricultural revolution. Bangladesh Awami League's 'Vision-2021' has been realized in the light of that dream. The implementation of 'Rupakalpa-2041' is moving forward at a breakneck pace.

She wished overall success to all the programs taken on the occasion of 'National Safe Food Day-2022'.
