Gouripur(Mymenshing): Hundreds of sunflowers bloom in the fields. The flowers seem to be smiling in the soft sunlight. Visitors also flock to enjoy the beauty of the flowers.
It is learned that Jahangir Hasan, son of Haji Nurul Islam of Nawagaon village in Ramgopalpur union, has been cultivating sunflower on 20 acres of land with the encouragement of Mymensingh Upazila Agriculture Office. He planted the seeds in mid-December. With the advice and proper care of the agriculture office, the sunflower garden is full of flowers as the trees grow. Fascinated by this, farmer Jahangir Hasan is dreaming of profit. He hopes to be able to collect seeds from flowers in mid-April.
A search of the ground revealed a spectacular view of yellow flowers and green trees in the crop field. The sunflowers are showing their beauty in nature by raising their heads from the inside of the green leaves. Meanwhile, after pictures of the sunflower garden were spread on social media Facebook by the locals, visitors and beauty-thirsty people started flocking to see the garden. Many people enter the garden and take pictures as a hobby. By doing this, the farmer has to face some embarrassment.
Farmer Jahangir Hasan said, "After last year, I have cultivated sunflowers again with the help of the agriculture office." Hopefully this time there will be a good yield. However, since there is no sunflower oil making machine, sunflower oil has to be collected in the mustard seed extractor. It does not get the desired oil.
Upazila Agriculture Officer Lutfunnahar Lipi said most of the oil in our country has to be imported from abroad. To reduce this import dependence, sunflower is being cultivated under the initiative of the Department of Agricultural Extension. Sunflower seed oil is good for health. This oil does not contain harmful cholesterol.
