Developing countries can follow Bangladesh's development model, said World Bank Executive Director Parameswaran Iyer.

He said this during a courtesy meeting with Sheikh Hasina at Ganobhaban on Thursday (August 10).

Parameswaran Iyer said that under the wise leadership of Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh has brought an unprecedented change in development with specific plans.

Sheikh Hasina said, Bangladesh has witnessed massive development. Because, after formulating specific plans, her government and party implement them.

SHe said, our main goal is poverty alleviation. We want to ensure a better life for every human being.

At this time, the Executive Director of the World Bank assured Bangladesh of cooperation in infrastructure development at the next stage of progress. He said that his organization has already paid 700 million US dollars for the relocation of Rohingyas.

The Prime Minister said that the Rohingyas should go back to their native country, Myanmar.

Regarding climate change, Sheikh Hasina said, "We are not carbon emitters," but Bangladesh is suffering from the adverse effects of climate change.

Iyer, however, told the Prime Minister that the World Bank would help Bangladesh implement its 'Delta Plan-2100'.

The head of government said that the World Bank is providing technical assistance for environmental restoration and navigability of rivers around Dhaka city with the aim of making the city more livable under a multidimensional investment program.

The World Bank official also praised the sanitation system of Bangladesh and said that the sanitation system of Bangladesh is extraordinary. He also praised the role of the private sector in development and described it as prosperous.

The Prime Minister said that her government has provided all necessary assistance for the development of the private sector. We have opened up everything to the private sector.
