Foreign diplomats speak a little unnecessary earlier: Foreign Minister

The Foreign Minister commented that the foreign diplomats in Bangladesh speak a little earlier. AK Abdul Momen said, they (diplomats) do not say this in any other country.

He made this comment to reporters after an exchange of views with eminent persons at the Foreign Service Academy at Bailey Road in the capital on Thursday (August 10) afternoon.

When asked what instructions were given by the distinguished persons in the exchange of views, the foreign minister said, one is how we will manage the diplomats in the coming days, they have given various suggestions.

Asked how to manage the diplomats - he said that foreign diplomats in Bangladesh talk a little more. It is not said like this in any other country. The diplomats who were in the discussion said that we have worked abroad for many years, but we have never seen such a situation like Bangladesh.

This has been happening historically in our country; the foreign minister said that it may not be possible to change this culture in a day. But I think now is the time. Then I will do a seminar.

Two US Congressmen are coming to visit Bangladesh next week; when asked about this, the foreign minister said, at our 50th anniversary celebration, US President Joe Biden expressed great optimism that he wants to have good relations, very strong relations with Bangladesh. He then said that Bangladesh is an emerging Asian Tiger economy.

Stating that Rohingya is a big issue in Bangladesh, Abdul Momen said that two US Congressmen are coming mainly to see the issue of Rohingya. Earlier, Rohingyas were given 12 dollars in aid, now it has been reduced to 8 dollars. And the biggest donor in the Rohingya issue is the United States. They (the two Congressmen) are members of an Appropriation Committee, they approve the money.
