The vegetable market is spreading heat even though the temperature has dropped due to continuous rain for several days. Meanwhile, the price of eggs is now the highest in history. In the market, the price of chicken eggs per dozen farms has increased to a maximum of Tk. 170. Domestic chicken eggs are being sold at Tk. 220 per dozen in some places. The market stakeholders believe that the increase in the price of fish has played a major role in the current situation of egg prices.

On Thursday (August 10), various markets of the capital were visited; loca potatoes were being sold at Tk. 50 per kg, Holland potatoes at Tk. 40, brinjal at Tk. 60-80 depending on the variety, Kankrol at Tk. 40-60, papaya at Tk. 30-35, Patol at Tk. 40-50. dhundal is being sold at Tk. 60, Tk. 60 per kg of ladies finger. Besides, gourd is being sold at Tk. 60-70, sweet pumpkin at Tk. 30-40, tomato at Tk. 260-280, borbati was seen selling at Tk. 60-70.

Rui and Katla are being sold at Tk. 350-450 per kg depending on size. Tilapia is sold at Tk. 220-250 and Tk. 210-230 per kg. hilsa of kg size is being sold for Tk. 1200 to 1300. Prices of other fishes have also risen significantly in the last few months compared to normal times.

Broiler chicken is being sold at Tk. 190-200 per kg in the markets of the capital. A few days ago it was sold at Tk. 160 per kg. Apart from this, Sonali chicken is currently selling at Tk. 290-300 per kg, Pakistani cock at Tk. 300-310 and layer chicken at Tk. 320-330 per kg.

A resident of Khilkhet area of the capital Russell Mia said, as the price of everything has increased in the last few months, we are now often eating vegetables, smashes or eggs. Yet the cost has increased by 30 percent. The price of fish is very high now. The price of chicken was slightly lower. I would bring it. Now the price of both eggs and chickens has increased. As the price of everything is increasing, what will we eat?'

Bangladesh Poultry Association president Suman Howladar has expressed fear that the price of chicken may increase in the coming days due to floods. How many more farms will be closed due to flooding. Due to this, the price of chicken and eggs may increase further.
