Education Minister Dr. Dipu Moni said, we have decided that if the examination has to be stopped at any place due to natural calamities during the examination period, the examination will be stopped locally, the rest of the examination will continue throughout the country.

She said these in response to questions from reporters after inaugurating the expanded academic building of Lady Pratima Mitra Girls High School in Chandpur town on Friday (August 11) afternoon.

The minister said that dengue occurs every year, this year the incidence may be higher. There is no opportunity to postpone public exams like HSC exams all over the country due to dengue situation. There are about 14 lakh examinees this year. They have prepared for this exam. The date of commencement 17th August was announced long ago and accordingly they have prepared and they are all ready to sit for the exam.

Regarding the students' movement, the minister said that some candidates always think before the exam and if they get some time, they can prepare well. Therefore, the examination of so many candidates cannot be postponed. It is a public exam, it is important to take it on time. Due to covid we had to take the exam late and this year we are trying to advance the exam.

Next year we will try to take normal time. This includes the thoughts of students in the humanities and business education departments. That's why low marks are being tested in ICT subject. The whole exam is being conducted in low marks i.e. rearrangement marks. So those few students, who are protesting, instead of protesting in the streets, let them go back to their desks and if they prepare, I believe they will do well.

Dipu Moni said, we don't pass the exam 100%. Those who do not pass take the exam the following year. Those who do not do well, take the exam next year to improve standards. All these opportunities are there. So there is no chance of postponing the exam. May all our examinees concentrate on their studies and wish them all the best.

In response to a question regarding dropout of students after SSC to HSC, the minister said that many times this number is suddenly said to be fabricated. It has to know the exact number. Among those who give SSC, a large number enter the career. Many go abroad. Some people go to other education i.e. technical education; they don't come to give HSC anymore. We have to keep these things in mind.

Sadar Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land)Hedayet Ulyah, district Awami League deputy secretary Ranjit Roy Chowdhury, pourashava Awami League general secretary Aminur Rahman Babul, school head teacher Mosammat Morsheda Yasmin, government officials, public representatives, local Awami League activists and school teachers were present.

Earlier, the minister inaugurated Bangmata Sheikh Fazilatun Nesha Chattar at Puran Bazar Degree College in the town.
