Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said that the daughter of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman cannot commit corruption.
She said this at a public meeting of the Awami League here after the inauguration of the Dhaka-Bhanga section of the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project on Tuesday (October 10).
The prime minister said that the World Bank wanted to discredit the Padma bridge by blocking its money. I challenged, I have not come to do corruption, I have come to serve people.
She said, a person took initiative to stop the financing of Padma Bridge for the greed of a small MD position of a bank. We were accused of corruption. I said, Sheikh Mujib's daughter does not commit corruption. I took up the challenge to build the Padma Bridge, many people said it was not possible. The impossible can be achieved if people are by your side.
Sheikh Hasina said, we have been able to build the Padma Bridge with our own funds. As a result, we the people of Bangladesh, whom Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib said, no one can keep in check.
She said that the foundation stone was laid in 2001 for the construction of Padma Bridge. But BNP came to power and stopped it. In fact, their character is to destroy. After coming to power for the second time, there is no initiative. Many said it was not possible. There are many conspiracies, plots, but I had trust in people.
The Prime Minister also said that Awami League works for the people of the country and works for the welfare of the country. We are working towards that. We want to improve the country.
Earlier, she participated in the inauguration ceremony of Dhaka-Bhanga section of Padma Bridge Rail Link Project at Mawa Railway Station of Munshiganj's Lauhjong Upazila from 11 am to 12 pm. The Prime Minister partially inaugurated the Padma Bridge Rail Link Project around 12:30 PM. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina boarded the train by buying a ticket as a passenger. Sister Sheikh Rehana and grandchildren were with her.
Sheikh Hasina bought tickets from the counter after the inauguration. Then the Prime Minister herself blew the whistle and signaled the train to leave. And the train also runs to break from Mawa end.
