Four Chhatra League activists killed in a road crash in Sylhet

Four Chhatra League leaders were killed in a road accident in Sylhet's Jaintapur Upazila.

The accident took place on Friday (January 19) around 1 am when the private car lost control and fell into a roadside ditch after being hit by a truck on the Sylhet-Jaflong highway.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Jaintapur Police Station Tajul Islam PPM confirmed the accident.

The deceased are Tamal (25) son of Aras Mia of Panihara Hati of Jaintapur Upazila, Nehal (26) son of Randeep Pal of Nijpat Union of the same upazila, Zubair son of Jamal Uddin of Kamalbari area and Ali Hossain Sumon son of Harun Ur Rashid of Nijpat Union.

Sylhet District Chhatra League General Secretary Rahel Siraj has confirmed to the media that the deceased were involved in Chhatra League politics.

He said that four BCL activists were killed in a road accident in Jaintapur area.

According to local sources, the private car lost control and fell into the nearby ditch after being hit by a truck in the Jaintapur police station area. Later, the locals rescued the passengers of the private car and took them to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Doctors on duty there declared 4 people dead.

OC Tajul Islam said that four people were killed in a road accident near Banglabazar Bridge number 4 of Jaintapur Upazila. Their bodies are now at Osmani Medical College Hospital.
