‘Bangabandhu's leadership is a resource for oppressed people of the world’

Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor(VC) Dr. ASM Maqsood Kamal said, Bangabandhu's timeless leadership is the wealth of all oppressed and downtrodden people of the world.

He said this in a speech on the occasion of the Great Independence and National Day celebrations in DU on Tuesday (March 26).

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maqsud Kamal said that one of the leadership qualities of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was his immense love and deep trust in the people. Likewise, the people also had genuine trust, faith and love for Bangabandhu's leadership. Leadership qualities are observed and developed in him from childhood and adolescence. Every chapter of Bangabandhu's life is a new history, and this history is the history of our great independence.

He said, Bangabandhu was great by birth. He used to say and do what he believed for the welfare and emancipation of people. That's why he was never defeated, always faced all adversities and negative forces with courage and moved forward. With deep trust and faith in the leadership of Bangabandhu, people from all walks of life jumped into our great liberation war and sacrificed their lives as per his instructions.

He further said that Bangabandhu achieved greatness through patriotism, devotion, strong movement with integrity, struggle and immense sacrifice. Therefore, Bangabandhu's leadership is timeless and he was the wealth of all oppressed and oppressed people of the world.

Highlighting Bangabandhu's visionary plans for the reconstruction of the war-torn country and the development of the country after achieving independence, the Vice-Chancellor further said that following the directions given by him to build the Sonar Bangla of Bangabandhar's dream, his privileged daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is relentless in building a developed and prosperous Bangladesh. Working hard Prime Minister has taken the country to a unique height through unprecedented development in all fields including education, health, housing, medical, communication, information technology. The new generation should know about Bangabandhu's illustrious political life, ideals and philosophy and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visionary leadership and development activities. The Vice-Chancellor called upon the young generation to further the development of the country under the leadership of the Prime Minister in building the Sonar Bangla of Bangabandhu's dream.

Incidentally, on the occasion of the day, the national flag was hoisted at 6 am in all central buildings and residential halls of the University. Sweets were distributed among the children of the University employees at 11 am. Besides, special prayers were held at Masjidul Jamia after Zohar prayer and other religious places of worship in the University area to pray for the souls of the martyrs. Important buildings of the University including Curzon Hall and TSC were illuminated.

It should be noted that Dhaka University family laid a wreath at the National Memorial. Later, under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, tributes were paid to the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at 32, Dhanmondi. University teachers, students, officials and employees were present on the occasion.

On the occasion of the Great Independence and National Day celebrations, a discussion meeting titled 'Significance of the Great Independence Day and the historical leadership of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the development of the country' was held in the student-teacher center auditorium at 11:30 am.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maqsood Kamal presided over the discussion meeting. In the meeting, the University's Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Muhammad Samad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Education) Prof. Dr. Sitesh Chandra Bachar, Treasurer Professor Momtaz Uddin Ahmed, President of the Teachers' Association Professor Dr. Md. Nizamul Haque Bhuiyan and General Secretary Professor Dr. Zeenat Huda were present.
