Mostofa Kamal will place his first budget on June 13
Dhaka,(Barta24.com): Keeping the election pledges in mind the new AHM Mostofa Kamal will place his first budget of his life in the second week (June 13)on Thursday. There are many debates that how much the election pledges will be reflected in the new budget. But the new government and the new cabinet want its reflection. Particularly Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina wants the reflection of the election pledges.
For that reason the Finance Minister in a pre-budget discussion mentioned that that at least one member of each family will get a job.
A source of the Finance division informed that a proposal for budget announcement has been sent to the Finance Minister. Finance Secretary Abdur Rouf Talukdar has given a nod to the proposal. He instructed the officials to work on the budget keeping the date of budget announcement in the Jatiyo Sangsad in their mind.
The announcement of budget in the first week of June is not possible due Eid ul Fitr holidays from June 4 to June 6. So the Thursday of second week has been selected.
In the ensuing budget of 2019-20 fiscal the matter of long term sustainable development has been brought into consideration. Besides the implementation of Vision 20-21 is being given importance. At that time the new government will celebrate the golden jubilee of our Independence after total poverty elimination.
To attract the local and foreign investment it has been planned to enhance government investment. The size of the budget will be increased to keep the continuity of the development of last ten years. The Finance Ministry and Planning Commission have taken preparation to announce the budget of Taka 5.25 lakh crores.
Meanwhile the Finance Minister has directed the NBR to fulfill the target of revenue collection. In this case he instructed NBR to increase the area of tax net rather not enhancing tax.
The Finance Minister earlier said that the new VAT law will be introduced in the upcoming budget. The rate of VAT will be 5, 7 and 10 percent. Last year the government could not impose the VAT owing to the pressure of the business men. That caused collection of revenue less.
It is learnt that the concerned ministries and divisions have been working in coordination to speed up development work. Special emphasis have been given on the implementation of ten mega projects including Padma Bridge, Prime Minister special 10 projects and social safety projects.
The most discussed subject in the next budget is “My village, My town” Many have termed it as the philosophy of development and prosperity behind which means that the kutcha roads will be pucca, available of electricity and internet facilities. In this philosophy highest importance will be given on environment protection. The village people will get all urban facilities living in rural areas.
