According to the report, the top commander of Hezbollah, Mohammad Nasser, was killed in an Israeli attack in Southern Lebanon on Wednesday.

Hezbollah's senior politician Hasan Fadallallah said Hezbollah would "punish" Israel for its crimes, so that the enemy would understand how long the arm of resistance is.

The Israeli military says it has shot and killed Hezbollah's Mohammed Nasser, calling him the commander of a unit responsible for firing into Israel from Southwest Lebanon.

Nasser, who was killed in an airstrike near the southern Lebanese city of Tyre, was one of several Hezbollah commanders killed in the battle, two Lebanese security sources said.

Hostilities arising from the Gaza war have raised concerns about a widening and destructive conflict between heavily armed adversaries, prompting US diplomatic efforts aimed at de-escalation.

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Galant said Israeli forces were hitting Hezbollah very hard every day and would be ready to take any action necessary against the group, although reaching a negotiated settlement would be a priority.

Meanwhile, no casualties were reported in Israel due to Hezbollah's attack. Israel's Defense Ministry said air raid sirens sounded in several parts of northern Israel.

Israel's military did not fire a few rockets but said most of them fell in the open, some were intercepted, while several launches fell in the Kiryat Shmona area.

It added that no casualties were reported but firefighters were working to put out the fire caused by the rocket attack.

After the rocket salvos, Israel said its warplanes hit a Hezbollah launcher that was used to fire barrages at Israel, as well as two additional launchers.

Lebanese sources say Nasser is responsible for a portion of Hezbollah's operations along the border. A second Hezbollah fighter and a civilian were also killed, a source said.

Nasser was a top commander of Hezbollah. He was of the same rank and importance as Taleb Abdullah, who was killed in an Israeli strike in June.

An Israeli military statement said Nasser and Abdullah served as two of the most important Hezbollah terrorists in Southern Lebanon.

Senior Hezbollah politician Hassan Fadallallah said Nasser knew he was an Israeli target but had not left the battlefield in nine months. Hezbollah will punish Israel for its crimes.

Hezbollah-Israeli hostilities have caused widespread damage on both sides of the border, forcing thousands to flee their homes.

According to a Reuters count, more than 300 Hezbollah fighters and 87 civilians have been killed in Israeli strikes in Lebanon. Israel, on the other hand, said the Lebanese attack killed 18 soldiers and 10 civilians.
