The United States plans to discuss the economy with Dr. Yunus
Dhaka: The United States is going to discuss the economy with the Chief Adviser of the Interim government of Bangladesh Dr. Muhammad Yunus this week.
This information was revealed in a report by the UK media The Financial Times on Tuesday (September 10).
In this regard, Brent Neiman, Assistant Undersecretary for International Finance at the US Department of Revenue and Finance, said that the United States is hopeful that Bangladesh will be able to address its economic weaknesses through the implementation of necessary reforms and create a strong foundation for continued growth and development.
According to The Financial Times, officials from the US Treasury, State and Commerce departments are expected to discuss Bangladesh's fiscal and monetary policy. At the same time, the current situation of the country's financial sector may also be discussed.
The report said that this discussion will be held next Saturday and Sunday in the capital Dhaka.
However, officials from the Bangladesh Finance Ministry and the Office of the Chief Adviser said they were not aware of the meeting.
