Citing the Lebanese Ministry of Health, the report said that the Israeli forces launched an airstrike on Beirut, the capital of Lebanon, on Friday. 12 people were killed and 66 people were injured.

Israel claimed that 10 of the 11 dead, except Ibrahim Akil, were Hezbollah commanders at various levels.

Israel's military has confirmed the death of Hizbullah's top military commander Akil, but Hizbullah has not yet released any official information.

The deceased Akil was reportedly a senior leader of Hezbollah's 'Radwan Force'. He was in a meeting with representatives of Hezbollah and a Palestinian armed group at the time of the attack.

The deceased Akil joined Hezbollah in the 1980s. Israel said he was in charge of operations outside Lebanon.

Two buildings in Lebanon were completely destroyed by the Israeli attack. Many are buried under the rubble. Members of the Lebanese Civil Defense are carrying out operations to rescue the injured and those buried under the rubble.

Earlier, at least 14 people were killed in an attack by Israeli forces in the densely populated Iranian-backed Daheh neighborhood in the city's southern suburbs, Lebanese officials said. Several others were injured.

At least 32 people were killed in pager and walkie-talkie explosions in Lebanon last week. In addition, thousands of other citizens were injured. Hezbollah blames Israel for the attack. Israel, however, denied it.
