Shooting at a bar in Mexico, 10 dead
Dhaka: Gunmen attacked a bar in the central Mexican state of Queretaro. Ten people were killed in the attack on Saturday night (November 9).
The British news agency Reuters reported this information in a report on Sunday (November 10).
The report quoted the country's state attorney general and the security chief of the city of Queretaro as saying that four gunmen suddenly attacked the bar. Seven men and three women were killed in their shooting. Seven more people were wounded.
Authorities have detained one suspect in the attack. Investigators at the scene are looking for a car. It is believed that the car may be linked to the attack.
Queretaro is a relatively low-crime area. The number of crimes such as murders here is lower than in many parts of the country. As a result, the place is considered relatively safe compared to many other places in Mexico.
"All those involved in this atrocity will be brought to justice," Querétaro Governor Mauricio Currie said on social media X. "We will continue to patrol our borders. We will also take all necessary measures to ensure security."
Mexico's internal security is in a critical state due to the conflict between organized crime groups and drug cartels. This poses a major challenge for new President Claudia Sheinbaum.
According to government data, there have been 2,788 murders nationwide since she was sworn in on October 1.
