Be careful so that no one questions the vote: PM
Prime Minister and Awami League President Sheikh Hasina urged the countrymen to vote for boat for continued development and progress, asking everyone to be careful so that no one can question the next general election.
She made this call in a speech given through video conference at a reception organized by expatriate Bangladeshis in Brussels, Belgium on Thursday (October 26).
The Prime Minister said that everyone should be careful so that no one can make the next general election fraudulent and questionable.
Expatriate Bangladeshis living in Belgium and various European countries organized this reception at the performing arts theater of Espace Lumine.
Sheikh Hasina urged the Awami League leaders and workers to show the unprecedented development of Bangladesh in the last 15 years to the people without paying attention to all the false propaganda being carried out against the government.
She said, as a proper response to the propaganda, highlight the development activities of the Awami League government in Bangladesh in the last 15 years to the people. Pointing to BNP-Jamaat, the Prime Minister instructed all concerned that none of the murderers-terrorists should play with the fate of the people again.
Sheikh Hasina said that the people got independence and development of the country by voting for Awami League. She said that calling on the Awami League to continue the development of the country, the Prime Minister said that the Awami League government has made the country a developing country.
She said, due to sincerity, specific planning and implementation of the plan accordingly, we have been able to develop Bangladesh extensively.
Although the Awami League government has made great progress in the last 15 years, the prime minister questioned what other governments including BNP-Jamaat have done for the development of Bangladesh in the 29 years from 1975-1996 and 2001-2009.
Mentioning that 29 years were a time of darkness and hardship for the people of the country, she said, they have no future of Bangladesh in their hands and they do not care about the people of Bangladesh.
The prime minister recalled the contribution of expatriate Bangladeshis in all struggles, including the historic 6-point demand and the 1971 liberation war.
Stating that the government is giving a 5 percent incentive on remittances, she requested the expatriate Bangladeshis to send remittances through banking channels.
The Prime Minister said that Bangladesh will not have too many poor people as the government will take necessary measures.
She said her government has already constructed free houses for 8,40,000 homeless and landless families across the country. To rid the country of extreme poverty, the government is constructing 11,000 more houses for the landless and homeless.
The Prime Minister said that the government is working tirelessly to turn the country into a smart Bangladesh by 2041.
