Make World Class Films: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked to produce quality films by maintaining global standards through taking proper training so that Bangladeshi cinema can gain worldwide recognition.

She said this while addressing as the chief guest at the 'National Film Awards-2022' ceremony at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center on Tuesday (November 14).

Bangabandhu's younger daughter (Prime Minister's younger sister) Sheikh Rehana was present at the event.

The Prime Minister said, 'Film artists, directors and technicians should be given better training to produce more quality films so that our cinema can compete with world standards. I want you to take steps to make world-class films using modern information technology.

Referring to the fact that her government passed the 'Bangladesh Film Certification Act-2023' in the last session of the Jatiyo Sangsad, she said, 'We think that according to the law, the system of quality assessment will also be introduced in the film industry. We do not want pornographic films or piracy in our country.'

She also mentioned that the current government is constructing a world class modern FDC complex.

The Prime Minister handed over the National Film Awards-2022 to the winning artists and technicians at the event.

President of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting Ministry Hasanul Haque Inu spoke as a special guest in the program under the chairmanship of Information and Broadcasting minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud. The welcome speech was given by the senior secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Md. Humayun Kabir Khandokar.

Lifetime awardee Rozina expressed her own feelings on the occasion.
