Getting a house created confidence to survive: Prime Minister
As a servant of the people of the country, I will serve like my father. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina commented that many people's lives have changed by getting houses with land through the Asryan project.
She said, "The people of this country will get a better life without hunger and poverty, that is our goal. The change in the people through the shelter project has created confidence in the people. It is very important to live well'!
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said all this in a speech given before handing over houses to 18566 landless and homeless families across the country under Asharyan-2 Project on Tuesday (June 11).
At 11 am on this day, Prime Minister inaugurated the house transfer program along with land ownership documents to the beneficiaries in Kaliganj Upazila of Lalmonirhat, Eidgaon Upazila of Cox's Bazar and Charfashan Upazila of Bhola through video conference from her official residence Ganabhavan.
Sheikh Hasina said, "The father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, has given us freedom." I think that is our duty! That's why our efforts!
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina mentioned that she wants to devote herself to the welfare of the people of the country and their service for the rest of her life like Bangabandhu.
Mentioning that 'those who got houses in the Asrayan Project, it is their own property', the Prime Minister said, 'The house you are getting is your own property. It is your responsibility to take care of it. She also urged them to be frugal in the use of electricity.
Stating that ``fulfilling the dream of the father of the nation'', Sheikh Hasina said, ``We will bring every village under the civic benefits. We are ensuring that citizen benefits. Apart from this, we are fulfilling the basic needs of the people of the country by developing roads, providing electricity, the benefits of which are being enjoyed by the people.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina highlighted various people-oriented steps and achievements of her government, including medical services, providing education, increasing food production, reducing the poverty rate, and said, "The people of Bangladesh will not be left behind anywhere." I promised to build a digital Bangladesh, I have built it. Now we have also got the status of a developing country. The walk will start from 2026. That's why we have prepared!
Reiterating her request to the people of the country so that there is no uncultivated land anywhere, Sheikh Hasina said, we do not want to go on begging from anyone! Do not want to continue to get hands! As much wealth as there is, I will use it and walk with my head held high. That's why we need your help. We urge you to be frugal in the use of water and electricity.
The Prime Minister thanked everyone involved in the construction of houses in the Asryan project.
Sheikh Hasina said, "I was arrested on July 16, 2007." A false case was filed. Leaders and activists of Awami League and affiliated organizations protested that day and fought for democracy. Thank you to them!
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared 70 more upazilas, including all the upazilas of 26 districts, as 'landless and homeless people', besides handing over 18,566 houses and landless families in the second phase of the fifth phase of the Asharyan-2 project.
The Prime Minister on Tuesday handed over 1,282 houses in Lalmonirhat, 2,61 in Cox's Bazar and 1,234 in Bhola district. With the new 'landless and homeless' districts and upazilas, the total number of districts across the country stands at 58 and upazilas are 464.
Earlier, the Prime Minister distributed 63999 houses in the first phase of Asaryan-2 project, 53 thousand 330 in the second phase, 59 thousand 133 in the third phase and 39 thousand 365 in the fourth phase.
Under the scheme, each landless and homeless family is being given a semi-furnished house with 2.5 percent land ownership, which will be owned by both husband and wife. Each house has two bedrooms, a kitchen, a toilet and a balcony.
According to the project details, a total of 2 lakh 66 thousand 12 landless and homeless families have been rehabilitated in the first, second, third, fourth and fifth phases of the Asaryan-2 project and another 18,566 families will be rehabilitated on Wednesday.
Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman launched the homeless rehabilitation program in 1972. Following in the footsteps of Bangabandhu, his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina took the initiative to give ownership of houses and land to the homeless and landless through the Asryan scheme in 1997.
A total of 771 thousand 301 families have been resettled since 1997 under the Asaryan Project. The number of resettled people is 38 lakh 56 thousand 5 hundred 5 people (as five persons in a family).
Under the project so far 8 lakh 67 thousand 9 hundred 4 land and about 43 lakh 40 thousand people of homeless families have been rehabilitated under Asrayan and other programs. Only 5 lakh 82 thousand 53 land and 29 lakh 10 thousand 265 homeless families have been rehabilitated under the Asryan project.
