75 people die of dengue in 13 days of this month
The number of patients and deaths from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease dengue fever is increasing day by day. In the last 24 hours, 5 people have died from the disease across the country. With this, the death toll this month has reached 75. In addition, 372 people have died of dengue this year.
This information was given in a press release on dengue sent from the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services on Wednesday (November 13) evening.
The notification said that 1,221 people have been admitted to the hospital due to dengue in the last 24 hours. With this, the number of infected people this year has increased to 76,021.
The notification also said that three people have died of dengue in Dhaka South City Corporation in the last 12 hours. In addition, a total of two people have died of dengue in Dhaka and Chattogram divisions in the last 24 hours.
On the other hand, the highest number of dengue patients (312 people) has been admitted to the hospital in Dhaka division in the last 24 hours. In addition, 213 people in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) and 171 people in Dhaka South City Corporation have been hospitalized with dengue during this period.
In addition, in the last 12 hours, 160 people in Khulna division, 123 in Chattogram division, 95 in Barishal division, 66 in Rajshahi division, 35 in Mymensingh division, 28 in Rangpur division, 12 in Dhaka division and 6 in Sylhet division have been hospitalized with dengue.
The dengue situation has taken a terrible shape since June 2023. Last year, 321,179 patients were admitted to hospitals in the country and received treatment. On the other hand, 1,705 people have died from this mosquito-borne disease. This is the highest death record in the country's history so far.
Earlier, 1,11,354 people were infected with dengue nationwide in 2019. About 300 people, including doctors and health workers, died at that time.
Although dengue infection was not seen much during the Corona pandemic in 2020, 28,429 people were infected with dengue fever across the country in 2021. That year, 105 people died from dengue.
In addition, a total of 62,382 people were hospitalized with dengue in 2022. That year, 281 people died from the mosquito-borne disease.
