Raushan Ershad boycotted the election to keep the party organized and disciplined. Opposition leader's political secretary Golam Masih commented that the nation will evaluate her boycott of this election in the future.

He made this comment at a discussion meeting at Raushan Ershad's political office (Road-47 Gulshan-2) on Wednesday (December 6) at noon. Former President Hussain Muhammad Ershad resigned on December 6, 1990. Since then the day has been observed as Constitution Preservation Day by Jatiya Party (JP).

Ghulam Masih also said that Hussain Muhammad Ershad voluntarily handed over power on December 6 without any movement. One of the opposition's demands at the time of movement was the repeal of the Special Powers Act and the granting of autonomy to Radio TV. Before the handover of power, SRO was issued to abolish the Special Powers Act and granting autonomy to Radio TV but till date neither BNP nor Awami League governments implemented that SRO, their demands to repeal the special power law, grant autonomy to TV.

The meeting was presided over by Raushan Ershad faction Jatiya Party's Conference Preparation Committee Member Secretary and Opposition Leader's Political Secretary Golam Masih.
