‘No one shall use force upon the opportunity as Independent candidate’
Awami League General Secretary, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said that party president Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given an opportunity for elections as Independent candidates. We must have peaceful elections.
Obaidul Quader said these things at the joint meeting of Awami League at the central office of 23, Bangabandhu Avenue on Monday (December 11) afternoon.
Awami League General Secretary warned the independent candidates and said that they have been given the opportunity to become independent candidates. But the party will not tolerate disorder and terrorist activities.
President Sheikh Hasina will evaluate those deprived of nominations in time, he said, and said that the election should be peaceful. It is the party's commitment to hold fair elections. A united Awami League does not mean defeat. Of course the boat will win.
Pointing to the BNP, Obaidul Quader said that if there is an attack, there will be a case, if there is a case, they will be arrested and punished. He said, the police will be killed, will it go without trial? Everyone has seen how the policeman was beaten to death. Those who caused this incident will not be sued? We didn't attack, they attacked. And if there is an attack, there will be a case. no spare.
Referring to the media, Obaidul Quader said, let us say one thing again and again, we do not want anything extra. Give us what we deserve as a party. You should also cover the opposition. There is nothing to stop. It is with great sadness that I speak. Organized a huge rally on the occasion of Human Rights Day at South Gate, wrote a letter to the Election Commission. The Election Commission has banned us. We have kept their word with respect.
Questioning how BNP got the permission in front of the press club, Awami League General Secretary said, "We don't know how it was given in front of the press club." We did not get the strength of the pro-election, but why was this permission given to those who opposed? It doesn't happen. Why did you give this shelter to the election opponents? My question to them, is it justice? You didn't give me, I'm doing election. And they gave permission to those who want to disrupt the election. I am not saying anything, I put the question to you.
