Uma Kazi, daughter –in- law of the National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam is no more. She was the wife poet’s elder son Kazi Sabyasachi who died in 1979. She was 80.
Uma breathed her last on Wednesday (Jan.15) at 8-30 P.M. while she was under treatment at United hospital in the capital. She had been suffering from various diseases.
Her Janaza will be held on Thursday after Johor prayer and she will be buried at Banani graveyard.
Stae Minister for Cultural affairs KM Khalid has expressed deep sorrow at the death of Uma Kazi, mother of Khilkhil Kazi. The minister in a condolence message expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family and sought blessings of the departed soul.
Uma Kazi while the poet Nazrul was alive used to provide nursing and took care all the time. Next the family started living at Banani permanently.
