At this time, seeing an armored vehicle of the police created a new tension. Aiming at that, the agitators started throwing stones. Later it moved from WASA to Almas Cinema Hall. Earlier on Friday after Friday prayers, the agitators continued to gather ignoring the rain. After the gathering there, took the procession and proceeded towards New Market Junction through Laldighi Maidan. The protestors kept standing there for half an hour and chanted slogans.

On Thursday night (August 1), anti-discrimination student movement, one of the coordinators of Chattogram, Khan Talat Mahmud Rafi, called for a 'prayer and student mass rally'. He called upon citizens of Chattogram from all walks of life including students, teachers, lawyers, doctors, intellectuals, cultural workers, media workers, human rights workers, Imams, workers, parents to participate in their program. Responding to that call, thousands of people participated. The presence of women students in the procession was also significant.

Heavy police presence was seen at important intersections of the city including Andarkilla intersection around the movement. However, the police were not seen to obstruct the procession.

When asked about the vandalism of the police box, Additional Commissioner of City Police (Traffic) Masood Ahmed told Barta24.com that the agitators attacked the police box while taking the procession. There were no police inside at the time, so no one was hurt. We will decide whether there will be a case in this regard.
