Gazipur: In Kashimpur of Gazipur, workers set fire to the chemical godown of Beximco's garment factory named Bigg Boss due to their agitation over salary.

The incident took place on Wednesday (September 11) around 11 am in the Sarabo area of Ward No. 2 of Kashimpur in the metropolis.

According to local sources, the workers of some factories, including Beximco, have been expressing their dissatisfaction over the salaries for the past few days. In view of this, the agitators gathered in front of the Bigboss factory on Wednesday morning and demanded a work stoppage. However, the factory authorities rejected this demand. When the hot situation arose, the workers entered the factory at around 12 noon and set fire to the chemical godown.

Later, after receiving the news of the fire, the fire service reached the spot but blocked the fire service vehicle by the protestors. Later, with the help of locals, after 4 hours of efforts, the fire was brought under control around 3:30 pm. The chemical godown of the factory was completely burnt in this fire. However, no casualties were reported.

Gazipur Industrial Police Superintendent Sarwar Alam confirmed the matter and said that there was an incident of setting fire to the Bigboss factory in Kashimpur area during the labor movement. The fire is now under control. #
