The High Court has stayed the effect of the notification issued banning systematic student politics in the Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET), known as the cradle of genius. As a result, there is no obstacle to student politics in BUET.

After the hearing of the writ prayer challenging the validity of banning student politics,  a High Court bench comprising Justice Md. Khasruzzaman and Justice KM Zahid Sarwar Kajol passed the order.

Earlier, BUET student and Chhatra League leader Imtiaz Rabbi filed the writ. The writ petitioner barrister Harunur Rashid confirmed the matter to reporters.

Meanwhile, the students of BUET are still holding a class-examination boycott program for the third day for the 6-point demand including student politics-free campus.

On the other hand, Bangladesh Chhatra League has given an ultimatum to the University administration to bring back student politics in Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology (BUET) without delay. Besides, the demand was made to return the residential seat of Imtiaz Hossain Rahim Rabbi, a BUET student and the executive member of the Central Nirbahi Parishad of Chhatra League.
