Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s convicted fugitive killer Captain(Rtd) Majed who was awarded death sentence has been sent to prison on Monday (April 6).

Advocate Abul Kalam Azad who appeared in court on Monday (April 6) confirmed to barta24.com that Majed has been sent to jail.
He said there was no lawyer for Majed.

Earlier, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal confirmed barta24.com that Captain (Rtd) Majed was arrested from Mirpur in the capital at 3:30 pm.

Senior police official sources said that a group of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC), a special unit for counter-terrorism of police arrested Majed from Mirpur area on the basis of secret news. He has already been sent to a Metropolitan magistrate court.
Captain (Rtd) Abdul Majed is one of the convicts in the Bangabandhu murder case. He had fled abroad for a long time. The other five convicted murderers are Abdul Rashid, Shariful Haque Dalim, M Rashed Chowdhury, SHMB Noor Chowdhury and Risaldar Moslem Uddin. Among them Noor Chowdhury is in Canada and Rashed Chowdhury in the US asylum. Moslem Uddin is in Germany and Shariful Haq Dalim is in Spain.

However, the exact details of the country in which Khondoker Abdul Rashid and Abdul Majed had been hiding are not known to the police.

Bangladesh Police issued a red alert against the death sentence awardees convicted through Interpol in 2009.

Besides, Syed Farooq Rahman, Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan, Bazlul Huda, AKM Mohiuddin Ahmed and Muhiuddin Ahmed were executed on January 27, 2010.

It is to be mentioned that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was assassinated along with his family on August 15, 1975. The two daughters, the present Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her younger sister Sheikh Rehana escaped as they were abroad at that time.
